Bounties

Fund a challenge or attempt one, and how judging works.

A bounty is a challenge attached to a character: get the character to do something specific, within a turn limit, and an AI judge decides whether you did it. Funding one costs credits; solving one pays credits.

Funding a bounty

Any signed-in user can fund a bounty on any character that is not private — you do not have to own it. The character's creator is notified when someone else funds a bounty on their character, and earns nothing from it.

SettingRule
Reward CreditsAt least 100,000 credits per winner slot
Max Winners1 or more. Each winner slot pays the full reward, not a share of it
DepositReward × winner slots, taken from your balance when you create the bounty, free credits first
Max Turns5 to 500
Max Attempts Per UserOptional, 1 to 100. Unlimited if left blank
TitleUp to 200 characters
DescriptionUp to 5,000 characters
Evaluation CriteriaUp to 5,000 characters. This is what the judge reads
End DateOptional. Leave it empty and the bounty never expires
Participation gatesOptionally require challengers to follow you or to favourite the character. You are exempt from the follow requirement

A bounty funding two winner slots at the 100,000 floor therefore costs 200,000 credits up front.

The reward and the number of winner slots are locked after creation. You cannot raise a reward, add slots, or boost a bounty later. If you want a bigger prize, you have to plan it before you create it.

You can delete your own bounty only while no one else has attempted it. Deleting refunds the part of the deposit that has not been won.

Difficulty sets judge strictness

Difficulty does not set the turn limit and does not describe how long the conversation runs. It tells the AI judge how hard to be, and it is shown to challengers.

DifficultyHow the judge scores
EasyLenient — clear evidence of the goal is enough to pass
MediumStandard — the outcome must be clear and reasonably credible
HardStrict — passing needs strong, convincing evidence
ExpertStrictest — ambiguous evidence fails the attempt

The turn limit is a separate field you choose yourself, anywhere in the 5–500 range.

Letting the AI draft it

AI Generate drafts the title, description, evaluation criteria and turn limit from the character's profile, optionally around an idea you type in. The turn limit it picks stays inside a band for the difficulty you chose:

DifficultyTurns the drafter picks
Easy15–25
Medium20–30
Hard30–50
Expert35–50

You review and edit the draft before publishing. Criteria written as core success / supporting evidence / does not count are scored far more accurately than a single sentence.

Attempting one

Starting an attempt opens a fresh chat with that character, titled after the bounty. Your existing conversations are untouched, and the attempt is judged on that chat alone.

An attempt cannot start when the bounty is not active, before its start date, after it ended, in the last 10 minutes before the end date, once every winner slot is taken, if you have already succeeded, if you are at the per-user attempt cap, if you already have an attempt in progress, or if you have not met a follow or favourite requirement.

Going past the turn limit fails the attempt immediately, without calling the judge at all.

Judging

One AI pass reads the conversation against the evaluation criteria and returns a verdict, a score from 0 to 100, and its reasoning.

You pass only if the verdict is a pass and the score is 80 or higher.

ScoreWhat it means
90–100Unambiguous success
80–89Clear success with minor gaps
60–79The goal is approached but authenticity is weak
1–59The goal is absent
0An integrity bypass, or no real attempt

There is one verdict and no appeal. There is no second pass, no community vote on borderline scores, and no panel of named judging dimensions — the judge returns a pass or fail, a score and its reasoning, and that is the result.

Getting paid

A winner receives the full reward, with no fee of any kind taken out. With several winner slots, each winner receives the full amount, and the bounty completes automatically once the last slot is filled.

Official bounties

Reverie also funds its own bounties. Those pay 250,000 credits at medium difficulty and 500,000 at hard, with 3 winner slots and 3 attempts per person.

A player can be paid for at most 3 official bounty wins per rolling 7 days. Past the cap the attempt is still recorded as a success, but it pays no credits — and it does not consume a winner slot either. Bounties funded by other users are not capped.

Expiry and refunds

There is no 30-day rule and no automatic expiry. A bounty expires only if its funder set an end date.

A daily sweep at 00:00 UTC closes bounties whose end date has passed: attempts still running are failed, the bounty is cancelled, and the full unclaimed part of the deposit goes back to the funder, with no fee deducted. Official bounties are minted without a deposit, so there is nothing to give back.

What the funder can see

A bounty's funder sees aggregate performance for it: total attempts, unique challengers, finished attempts, success rate, average score, average turns to a success, a status breakdown, the score distribution, a 7-day trend and recent successes.

Transcripts and challenger identities are never included, and none of this appears on the public bounty card — success rate in particular is funder-only.

Creators see bounties on their own characters in the Character bounties card under Creator Center → Works.
