Following creators

Following is for creators, it is free, and it changes four things about what Reverie shows you.

You follow creators. Characters are favorited instead — the two are different systems, and there is no way to follow a character. Following is free, it is one-way, and there are no tiers: everyone who follows a creator gets the same thing.

Following someone

On a creator's profile, Follow. The button then reads Following, and its menu holds Unfollow. Signed out, the button asks you to log in first.

Following costs nothing and sends no money. Paying a creator is a separate, deliberate act — see Direct support.

What a follow actually gets you

EffectWhere it shows up
Following feedA tab on the creators page: New from creators you follow
Following sortOn the character grid, alongside Favorites and My Characters — signed-in only
New-character alertA notification reading "published a new character", in the Social tab of the bell, and on push if you have it enabled
A nudge in RecommendedOn page one, up to 35% of the slots are reserved for characters published in the last seven days by creators you follow

Following can also unlock things a creator has gated:

  • Contact. A creator can accept messages from followers only, in which case their profile tells you to follow them to continue. See Messages.
  • Bounties. A bounty can require entrants to follow the creator who posted it. See Bounties.

Turning down the noise without unfollowing

The Follow button's menu has Mute new character alerts. That stops the notifications from that one creator and leaves everything else — the feed, the sort, the follower count — intact. Notify me of new characters turns them back on.

This is per creator. There is no global switch for new-character alerts, but you can turn push off entirely under Notifications.

Follower counts are public

A creator's profile shows Followers and Following as numbers. The creators list can be sorted by Most followed, and filtered to Following only so you see just the people you already follow.

The creator is notified when you follow them. Nobody is told when you unfollow.
